Administrative Assistant - EU Project Administration

DCI Italy is seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic and experienced Administrative Assistant to be responsible for EU project financial and administrative reporting.

Defence for Children International is a leading child rights-focused and membership-based grassroots movement placing all members on equal footing. Created during the International Year of the Child (1979), Defence for Children International coordinated the NGO input for the drafting of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) – the most widely-ratified human rights treaty in history. Defence for Children’s mandate is to ensure ongoing, practical, systematic and concerted action directed towards effective implementation of the human rights codified in the UNCRC, by means of its effective coordination between different levels (national, regional and international) and its active membership within key networks and fora. Defence for Children International counts with 37 grass-root organizations (National Sections and Associated Members) in five different continents, involving over 300 trained and specialized local staff and volunteers, who contribute daily to defend and protect the human rights of children. Defence for Children Italy joined the DCI movement in 2005 and has a legal office in Rome and an operative office in Genova. Since 2018 DCI is also member of the International Social Service.

The principal tasks of the Administrative Assistant– EU Project Administration will be to ensure high quality, timely and accurate reporting for EU funded projects and providing support to project’s team.  
The Officer will:
•    Be responsible for financial and administrative project reporting for EU funded projects
•    Prepare project financial reports on a regular basis
•    Support tracking of project expenditures and staff working time.
•    Support efficient and effective project timesheet reporting of all relevant staff to ensure maximum drawdown;
•    Contribute to prepare project narrative reports
•    Contribute to draw the annual activity report of the organization
•    Prepare and support EU auditing as required;
•    Support the organisation of EU project meetings;
•    Provide general administrative support
•    Any other duties as required and relevant to the role and grade.

•    2-3 years of experience in financial management
•    excellent knowledge of European funding rules
•    knowledge in administration and book-keeping
•    excellent organisational and planning skills
•    C1 level in English, oral and written
•    excellent communication skills

This position is based in Genova, Italy, but foresees also independent work on distance.
Duration of Contract: Part-time temporary for 1 year, 2 months trial.
