Diritti al centro: upporting the transition to adulthood

January 2026 – December 2026

 Genoa, Italy

SUMMARY

Rights at the Center 2.0 strengthens the connection between young migrants and the local community. This new edition gives continuity and stability to the mentoring pathways already launched, transforming the experience gained over past years into a structured support system that accompanies young people towards full autonomy.

Through mentoring, we connect young migrants with volunteer citizens, turning solidarity into a concrete pathway towards full social inclusion.
The project operates in Genoa to support boys and girls during the delicate phase before and after turning 18, ensuring that their dreams and talents are not lost during the transition into adulthood.

Project duration

October 2024 – September 2025

OBJECTIVES

The general objective of the project is to support unaccompanied foreign minors and young adults from around the world during the transition to adulthood and autonomy.

Support adulthood

Support foreign unaccompanied minors and newly adult young people from migrant backgrounds during their transition to adulthood and independence

Promote autonomy

Support young people in achieving housing and employment independence.

Strengthen Mentoring

Consolidate a community of active citizens able to become reference figures for “young people from around the world,” promoting rights, exchange between generations and cultures, and social integration.

Policy monitoring

Analyse how the implementation of Law 47/2017 concretely impacts young people’s development and inclusion pathways in Liguria.

ACTIVITIES

1.Mentoring Programme

The initiative aims to ensure continuity of mentoring pathways through ongoing support and monitoring for both individuals and mentor-mentee pairs by the operators responsible for the mentoring programme. This includes dedicated meetings, referrals to local services, and the organisation of group activities involving mentors and mentees.

2.Integrated Socio-Legal Helpdesk

A support hub located at our headquarters in Piazza Don Gallo where we provide:
• Guidance on employment and vocational training opportunities.
• Support in finding housing solutions (Social Housing).
• Legal assistance for permit renewals and access to fundamental rights.

3.Research and Analysis
We carry out participatory monitoring activities involving institutions and young adults transitioning out of care, in order to produce a reliable and critical analysis of the implementation of protection measures for foreign minors in Liguria.
