Safe in Town: the European training platform for the protection and wellbeing of children and adolescents is now online

 childsafeguarding.eu

The European training platform dedicated to the protection and wellbeing of children and adolescents, developed within the EU co-funded Safe in Town project, is now available online.

What is the Safe in Town platform?
Safe in Town is an online learning space designed to strengthen knowledge, skills and practices within local child protection systems, supporting all professionals who work with children and adolescents in different territorial contexts.
The platform is intended for:

  • Professionals and practitioners working in child protection services
  • Policymakers involved in child wellbeing
  • Trainers engaged in education and safeguarding pathways
  • Professionals seeking support in training processes
The e-learning course: 8 sessions for integrated child protection
At the heart of the platform is an e-learning course structured in eight sessions, available in a flexible, self-paced format. The programme addresses, in an integrated way, the key areas of protection and wellbeing of children and adolescents:
  • Prevention and management of risk situations
  • Active participation of children and adolescents
  • Coordination among services and institutions
  • Reporting and monitoring systems
The course combines theoretical content, interactive materials, practical examples and exercises to support continuous learning across different professional contexts. The content is developed in line with key international and European child safeguarding standards, including the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the EU Recommendation on integrated child protection systems, and the Keeping Children Safe Standards, a project partner.

Alongside the training course, the platform also provides:

  1. A shared glossary to promote a common language among professionals
  2. A Resource Centre with legal references, in-depth materials and operational tools for preventing and managing risk situations

Developed within the Safe in Town project, the platform stems from the collaboration between partner cities - Genova, Matosinhos, Chania and Strovolos - and is open to a wider community of practitioners and professionals engaged in child safeguarding at European and international level.
The course is currently available in English and will progressively be translated into Italian, Greek and Portuguese, with adaptation to different national contexts.

Safe in Town contributes to strengthening integrated and sustainable child protection systems, concretely supporting the work of all actors involved in safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and adolescents.
