Durata del Progetto
December 2020 - April 2022
Design and deliver training to promote guardianship services that are sensitive to the rights and needs of the child and rooted in international and European standards.
Following the development of an EU Trainers Manual, DCI Italia developed and delivered an EU training and learning platform for guardians of unaccompanied children, both commissioned by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA). The resources will be published by FRA and disseminated in July 2022 to all 27 member states as a primary reference on guardianship training. Also in 2022, DCI joined the European Guardianship Network (EGN), which aims to promote guardianship and improve guardianship services for unaccompanied and separated children in the EU Member States by exchanging good practices, expertise and other relevant information and sharing ideas and cooperation on common challenges and cross border work.
For over a decade, DCI Italia has been providing technical advice and expertise to support national and international partners in the field, in the framework of several European projects, such as Safeguard, GATE, IMPACT, Elfo and ASOP4G. These key actors include: national and regional independent authorities for the rights of children and adolescents; CAHENF Safeguards group of the Council of Europe in relation to the drafting of Council of Ministers’ recommendations on guardianship and age assessment of children in migration; Special Procedures of the United Nations, in particular the United Nations Special Rapporteurs on the Human Rights of Migrants, on the Sale and Sexual Exploitation of Children, and on Trafficking in Persons.
DCI Italia designs and delivers training to promote guardianship services that are sensitive to the rights and needs of the child and rooted in international and European standards. Our approach to guardianship is child-centred and cross-disciplinary, conscious of the perspectives and needs of the guardians and other service providers working with unaccompanied children.
